FWIW, here's my X5 ALO dock. The cable is actually slightly less pink & more copper in colour than the image suggests.

personally i'd be glad if i got my cable like that; i'm not a fan of braids in the first place, and the slightly looser braiding will make the cable last longer due to less stress placed on the wires.

and it's pretty much the same thing as a fast food commercial; they use makeup artists on their food. no matter what you buy, it won't look the same as the ad. then again, this ain't a burger- it's a pretty hefty chunk of change. you could shoot an email to Ken and see if that's how he's making all of his cables now, and if so, to update the pictures.

A scammer defrauds the customer. It would be suitable to use scam if you never received a cable or if it were made of materials clearly inferior to those depicted.

There is nothing wrong with asking for corroboration on one's evaluation of product quality. The collective wisdom of head-fi affords each of us a great resource. Let's think carefully about our word choice before we write for public consumption.

Wow, overreacting by asking a question in private to the seller sounds a lot better than accusing someone of scamming you in a public forum.

This is as bad as leaving negative feedback on ebay before contacting the other party.

For the money you are paying you deserve a perfect cable. That said, you should take it up with the seller to see if he will recify the situation. If he says no, then perhaps you have grounds to start a negative thread. Right now, I think it is a little premature.

My own opinion on the worth of these cables is irrelevant as you have chosen to pay the ticket price... but you should definately have no complaints for $160. Hell, he should sit you down and pour you a glass of wine while you wait.

Well we just disrupted the force now... It would have been better if he contacted privately and saved a thread for when that fails, though now if he contacts the maker, then the maker might be influenced by this post.. See? don't screw with time travel?

depending on how much leeway you are willing give a manufacturer of expensive "audiophile" items between the product advertised and the product shipped.

The same thing with my Copper dock, the braids are loose. In the ALO website (before the Copper was discontinued) the braids where tighter looking. Even on some pics of head-fiers in the "Post your Portable rig" thread, but hell it works and I didn't pay $160 for it.
