How to break Head-fi addiction? - Page 7

30.96 posts per day, Fenix? That's the highest number I have ever seen. It's a bit absurd.

Didn't bother seeing if someone else said this, but why not just block the forum from your computer. I'm sure most parental settings can do that.

I'm a forum crawler. I'm like this on all the forums I'm part of. I've outposted even the moderators on a couple.

That much is good. At least you don't have posting "goals" as I've sometimes seen with newbies. They become very aware of how often they're posting since posting is the "goal" in and of itself. I don't get it, but it does happen.

I'm sure it's just the initial phase. I'll calm down I hope.
I sure hope so, or at least that you're making useful posts and not just posting for the sake of posting. If that's the pattern you follow, we'll soon have to give you a little time out, in which case you won't be able to post anything for a while.

Turn off the computer. Put down the headphones and go for a walk.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...............................ok, you can take your headphones with you.

I think I have figured out a way out. I know the two things that I still need to get. the wadia ipod transport and a 160 gb ipod. That should keep me happy for at least 2 years. And then maybe ill get the JH13. And a seperate dac and amp. Actually come to think about it, im stuck here.

the good thing is that i only have to make it through the 2years that i have left of school. then audio purchases will be drops in the bucket. compared to cars, and photography, and school loans.

oh, sh*t, im screwed

Sell the rest of it right now and get JH13s. That'll fix you good.

i proved to myself that a decent $400 computer setup sounds just as good as anything else i've ever heard.

once the need to upgrade went down, i only come back to check up once in awhile =D

No. I haven't set any goals in posting. I've never heard of newbies setting posting goals before. lol That really does sound absurd. If I post, it comes naturally. My posts are to help out others who are getting into this as I have. Others are questions asking about things I'm not sure about. Overall in doing this, I've learned a bunch and hopefully helped others learn as well. The only exceptions are those in off topic threads.

I've seen threads in some forums that were completely based around post counts. Never made sense to me. Threads like "see who can count the highest". and then people just post "1" then the next poster posts "2", etc.. Its madness and seems to me like a complete waste of time. I asked a couple posters who did this... "why?" (but in a very sort of light-hearted way) and they were almost offended that I had asked. To each their own I suppose, still, seems very bizarre to me.

Ok back on topic, I think I'm getting pretty close to having everything I need/want in this hobby. I want to start attending headphone meets, but think they could equally help and hurt the addiction. Help in that it will allow me to figure out what to avoid, hurt in that it'll just feed the flame . What I love about the whole headphone hobby though is its relative portability vs. sound quality. Totally suits my lifestyle.
