BTW. I've got some pretty good records lying around, but I don't know whether I will be able to take them to the meet. What kind of music do you like?
With my preamps' balanced outputs. Kees mentioned that he has done it and it worked quite well. A GS-X would raise the cost considerably, and it'll never be as good as the K1000 (that is, in my opinion) is right now. I want the maximum sound quality at as little money as possible, and considering I have a balanced amp, I figure I can balance a HD-650 for less than €300 (including the HD-650 itself).

This is, ofcourse, if the balanced outputs work.... 9 of the 11 regular outputs are blown as is. I recently tracked down a service manual for it so I plan to fix that problem.

I listen to pretty much everything, except country and r&b/rap. Anything you could bring would be cool, but it's more to have some vinyl material there for others to use on the Pro-Ject.

Then you must find yourself a HD650. I just sold mine...

Basically, the K1000 does everything the HD650 does, but better. Although I must say I enjoyed listining to Diana Krall with the HD650... I'm gonna miss them...

And you don't enjoy Diana Krall on the K1000?
Finding a HD-650 shouldn't be very hard though, plenty of them out there.

You know what the worst part is? When I started I absolutely HATED the HD-650.... and now I consider getting one.

Oh absolutely! Still lots of Grado love. However, I had the best Grado rig I could have (for my taste, of course), and it just didn't reach the K1000 territory. Rebuilding that rig would cost me more than selling the K1000, which doesn't make sense to me, as this is done to cut down on invested funds.

Though I could just get an SR-225 and call it done... hmmm.

I wonder, what would a balanced DT770/250 be like? Now there's something I could possibly make before the meet in Maastricht.

I dunno. If I had to make something to be able to stick on to for a long time I would most likely go for something like the W1000 or W5000. Maybe Darth Beyers if that is your taste (and your budget) , but personnally I don't really like a subwoofer attached to my head. I don't know how balanced DT770s sound, but maybe that's the best option after all. And since you've already got a DT770 it ought to be the cheapest as well.

Anyways I would get something that does good with a lot of kinds of music. I think that Grado is definitely not good for electronic music for instance.

Which is why I plan on something along the lines of a HD-650, works well with plenty of music styles. Grado's rock with rock, but they only rock with rock.
I was hugely inimpressed with the W1000's. While they sound good, they just aren't involving. Not sure why not, but it just didn't work.

I hardly ever listen to the DT770's, so instead of having them collecting dust it could be a cool experiment to toy around with them. Heck, they are in crappy condition as is anyhow.

They are a subwoofer strapped to your head, which isn't much good to be honest, but on some tracks, they can be lots of fun if driven with a powerful solid state amplifier. Works great with movies too!

While it's a bit longer drive for me (roughly 30 minutes), I can pick you up if you want, if you fancy splitting the gas.

That would be awesome.

I'll ask Lenny to be sure he won't come, ill give you a PM tomorrow.

If he will not come, you got yourself a hitchhiker . Splitting the fuel wont be a problem, unless you drive a Hummer H1 off course .

No, I drive a Lambo LM-002. Is that a problem?

It'll either be a Astra hatchback, or a 330i, the latter being with free gas so I'm going to try and arrange that one. Won't be bad either way.
Shoot me a PM before the meet so we can arrange pickup times, etc.

Nice to organize a meet...You finally clean up stuff you wouldn't have done although they needed be
We have a cellar you can use, although it is still "under construction" but it is usable. The same goes for the garden. (Already said that once I guess, well whatever)
I am so looking forward! Nice to see you people and nice to see some of you again!
