Yes, I bought a pair of Darths from Skylab.
Probably the most fun headphones ever. I could easily live with these and be happy ever after, even though I have a couple of phones that are technically a lot better.

The HE60 are now with Rudi to match them to perfection to the Egmont. I'll have them back in a couple of weeks.

In the mean while I did another attempt to go bankrupt by buying a pair of balanced L3000.
And did I already mention that with the Egmont I will also receive an RPX-100?

It is too bad I cannot make it to this meet (have to work).
But anybody who wants to come by and listen is very welcome. Just shoot me a PM.

You are insane Kees! Very nice gear you've been gathering. I've never had the pleasure of listening to a L3000, but from what I've read it should be a very nice addition to the incredible stash that you already have.

Too bad you can't be there, though you'd have to bring three cars to take only a part of your gear. I remember it was a bit of a tight fit last time.

So when's an HE90 joining the collection?

I heard the HE90/Orpheus when they where introduced and was not impressed. But that was some 25 years ago if I remember correctly.
I actually think I might prefer the HE60/Egmont. It has a bit more "grunt" and body, while still very balanced and spatial.
There are some other things in the pipeline, but I'm afraid they'll have to wait for a good long while now, given my recent financial outburst.....

Just read the entire tread... Sitting at home trying to study, so visiting HeadFi every freakin' hour...

Hi, guys! Still alive! But this new job is killing me... The time I've got left after work I've tried to evenly divide it between my girlfriend and my newly acquired K1000! Thanks for that, Rik! Although my gf isn't that grateful...

Sorry... No can do... I've got this exam om 2nd of June (yes, it's a Saturday, yes it's from 0900-1300 and 1400-1700) and have to do some stuff on Sunday I've been neglecting the last couple of weeks. Like visiting my parents and stuff...

And Rik! SHAME ON YOU!! Convinced me to buy the K1000 (not that I needed much convincing ) and now you're selling yours?!! But actually, it's good news... I've been thinking about picking up a second one... I want to get it recabled at Stefan AudioArt! Give me a PM when you're selling! + = ??
And I want that Selektor thingy as well!!

Hon,

I've heard the Stefan Audio arts recabled K1000 on my own system at the Dusseldorf meet. I've a/b-ed it against mine (fully stock) together with another person. I noticed a slight (!) difference in bass fulness, but found the highs to lack a bit. The other person noticed a slight improvement in highs while bass became thinner..... Note that these effects were very slight and I'm actually putting it down to the infamous placebo. So did the other guy. After that, I tried them both on an incredible McIntosh system, a MCD201 cd player and MA6900 amp. That system sounded very good, though I couldn't hear a difference between the Stefan AudioArt and mine.

Not to talk you out of recabling it ofcourse! If you think it's a good idea, then go for it. I just couldn't verify differences. Maybe in a bit quiter environment...

I'm thinking about putting up a IC on the K1000 and Selektor here, though if you want the Selektor I'll most definitely sell it seperately to you.

I'm not sure I want to put this down here already, though I might also be selling the Aleph. Would you be interested? Thinking about building an Aleph , or going tubes.

Ah right, ofcourse, you told me that you had heard it and wasn't as impressed as you had hoped. Some other things in the pipeline... there always are.

Aaaaah.. No problem. I'll just be eyeing the German more often... Can't blame you!

Basically, I just don't want to use the extension cable to connect the K1000 to the amp. The cable is like a kilometre long and it doesn't make sense to me... And recabling the HD650 did make a big difference, so I thought I'd just give the K1000 a try as well... But if you could sell me the Selektor, I'd be most happy to take it off your hands! Would be great!

Could be interesting, actually... Dang it, Rik!! Are you building the famous Aleph 5?? And sell it afterwards to me??
If I need to help with getting another from ebay.de, just let me know.
The Selektor is a great thing, though it hasn't left the "speaker" setting for a couple weeks now...

I might build an Aleph 5 if I have the time for it. I'm pretty busy up to July, after that I go on a 5 week vacation. And then there's the cost (which isn't small).

So, I don't think an Aleph 5 will happen anytime soon. Though it is tempting, 60wpc fully Class A has to be something special. I might build another and sell if afterwards, but only if I'm confident that what I've made is good enough.

So many hobbies, so little time. Want to do too many things, get more serious about photography, digital paintings, build speakers, build an amp, sell this, buy that, etc.

Don't worry about it, I'm in no rush at all. I might just 'settle' for the RWA Signature 30 and also buy some not-so-expensive efficient speakers... Together with the Selektor, it would make me 'done' for a while! Only a Lavry to go! Or a ESound. Or both... I'm waiting for Charles to send me a PM about the RS-1 and SinglePower...

Going on holiday is hardly a good enough excuse not to build yourself an Aleph 5, Rik! Deep in your heart you know it's true!

I was 'done' when I bought a Firestone Audio amp and dac to go with my HD-595....

Charles would be a mighty fine new owner for my old RS-1's! You don't feel like giving them back to me, as a gift for my upcoming birthday, do you?

Settling on a RWA Signature 30 isn't such a bad settlement at all.
An ESound or something similar would be a great idea as well, though the K1000 does like tubes somewhere in the chain. Or maybe it's just that I like them.

It's true, it's really not a good excuse. Maybe I can build it while I'm out on the road? Have my friend drive while I solder it together in the back seats? Though such a beast would drain my cars' battery in a matter of minutes. Still, it would be a good couple minutes!

Yeah, I started with a Cute Beyond and HD555 and thought I was 'done' too...

True... So true... I hoped that the 'tube-like' sound of the Signature would ease the pain. But I will definately miss the tubes... Maybe Charles is in bad luck... I just can't let the SinglePower and the RS-1 go!!

BTW, I don't see nearly enough tubes in your chain, Rik! Besides that lonely little tube in your CD-player... I see... A WooAudio 5 in your future, Rik!!

No, no, NO... That's not the way to do that, Rik! You should say: 'Maybe I'll just skip that needless holiday and focus on more important stuff. Like building myself an Aleph 5! And it'll save me the time and the money, it's a win-win situation!' It's all about priorities!

Anyways, to get back on track... I'm sorry I can't make it. Would love to join a meet again soon, it was fun in Terneuzen among fellow HeadFi members! Even the ride to and from Terneuzen was fun!

Had a Beyond as well. Sounded pretty good for the money. I shouldn't have sold the Fubar II dac....

The 3 tubes in my cd player! The one in the front is only for the power supply.
And no -- you don't see a Woo 5 in my future. That one is way beyond my budget, I'm afraid. Spending roughly 5 times as much on amplification as on speakers is kind of out of line, isn't it?

I could build two fully pimped Aleph 5's instead of my planned vacation..... hmm, you've got a point here. Perhaps I should cut my vacation in half? Naaaah.

Howsabout another meet in early July? I'll host.

It depends. Some say that spending more than €20 on headphones is crazy. Grado and AKG should be out of business! Some say that a Hyundai Atos is all you need to get from A to B. BMWs are just to show off!
So, you tell me! Is it crazy? Shouldn't you buy that Woo5? I know you want to...

That sounds actually a lot better than a holiday! (No pun intended! ) One for me, one for you! I'm a bit clumsy with a soldering iron...

One step at a time! But I'm definitely interested in the RS-1!

You'll be the first one I'll contact if, no when, I'm gonna sell! I've got this pigtail from MoonAudio coming soon, so I'll be able to connect my K1000 to the SLAM. We'll see how that sounds. It supposed to be okay-ish...

Two possible outcomes:
1. It sounds crappy: Sell the SLAM and get the RWA Sig30. Sell the RS-1, since I don't have an amp for it.
2. It sounds pretty good: Keep the SLAM for a while. Sell the HD650 with Silver Dragon v2. Keep the RS-1 for a little while to annoy Charles...
