Just Ordered Shure Black Foam Sleeves - Page 5

Would anyone be willing to sell me 1 pair of mediums? I'm not sure which will fit me and I have 1 pair of Large coming to me now from a generous head-fier.

Complies are supposed to last for months(3 months)

Why don't you just buy both the medium and the large and then sell the ones you don't like? Looking at all the gear in your signature I assume you can swing the $30 or so it'd cost.

Which they don't, unless you never clean them, which is gross.

The Shure tips you can totally clean.

My little review was with the UM1, but soundwise they're not very different from the comply tips, however the highs and bass both seem to be more apparent. I think the seal is just more secure with these. I'll try and post a full comparison as soon as I can.

x2
Comply are expensive, they last really short (2 weeks) and with them E500 sound really poor.
When will new shure foams appear at ebay.com? earhonesolutions.com doesn't ship to Poland

I ordered some Large black foamies from earphonesolutions.com for my E4C today.

as far as sizing, I get a perfect seal and fit with the medium gray softflex. I find the yellow foamies to be really nice when sitting but easily loosen up when moving around and breaking seal. I was reluctant to go with the larges since the regular large tips don't fit me well, but I'm hoping these will compress to fit a smaller ear canal like the yellows. I'll post as to how they turn out.

I know this thread is about the tips (i ordered some complys today after seeing this thread), but does anyone know when the Shure SE 310 will go on sale at big retailers or online stores.

I have E3's now which i use all the time but have been thinking of upgrading to E4, but CNET says the SE310 is comprable to E4 w/ more bass. So these are probably what i will aim for and i have best buy/circuit city gift cards that need to be used.

what method do you guys use to put them on? like do you have them hangging over your ears and which hands do you use to roll the foamies to insert them as quick as possible?

i'm having trouble as they expand too quick

Yes..I agree that they do expand very fast! I first have them hanging over my ears. Then for the right monitor...I grab it with my right hand and then roll the foamie with my left hand and then insert as quickly as possible. Obviously I repeat with oppsite hands for the left.

Utilizing this method..I am not having any trouble getting them in before they expand. It does however help to have lots of practice. Knowing exactly where your canal is and which way to rotate the monitor is a big advantage with these new fomies.

thanks for the tips on the tips, i still need practice though.

also they don't go in nearly as far as the yellow foamies. aside from the fact they're longer, they expand faster so i cant do the pull top of ear out and away and open my jaw. but they isolate way beter for me! and large is humungous

Today I tested the new black foamies while chewing gum and they passed the test. The seal never broke once during a 4 mile walk. Not bad at all.
