SOLD: Red Wine Audio Monica 2 DAC

This is a superb sounding non-oversampling DAC that utilizes the Philips TDA1545A DAC chip and runs on clean 12V SLA battery power. The board is populated with high quality parts using Black Gates and Sanyo Oscon capacitors. The DAC and battery are housed inside of a slick looking Context Engineering metal case. The lights on the front indicate power and digital signal status. There is a switch on the back to select between "on" or "off/charge battery".

Some words generally used to describe the sound of this DAC have been "natural", "organic", and "analog". You can read more from positive-feedback and 6moons.

I asked Vinnie Rossi of Red Wine why he doesn't sell the Monica 2 anymore and he responded,

"I have become extremely busy with building my Signature series amplifiers, Olive music server modifications, and iMods. I had to trim certain products from my product line because I don't have the time to keep up with so many different products. This is the only reason."

This particular DAC has the larger capacity battery option that Red Wine offered new for $549 originally. I'm not exactly sure how many hours a single charge can hold, but I've recently left it running from morning until late night and it was still going strong. I've never encountered problems with the battery dying before I was done listening. The DAC features a BNC digital input, but if you prefer to use RCA coaxial, the sale includes the RCA-BNC adapter pictured above. I will also throw in a free BNC-BNC cable (not pictured).

I'm looking for SOLD in the CONUS. Please pm me if you are an interested international buyer and we can discuss shipping options. I accept PayPal (both credit card and non-cc), but buyer will have to cover any fees. Will also accept other valid forms of payment such as money order and personal check (will have to clear before ship). My feedback is here.

Thanks for looking.

If only it had optical input instead of coax, I'd be all over it. As it is, I've been pestering yeo at diyparadise.com to build me a portable version with a mini-TOSLINK. Unfortunately he's been too busy selling the boards (apparently word-of-mouth about these is getting around to the right people).

Why are you parting with this one?
