I was typing out my list and then noticed fraseyboy's:

Puzzle: Lumines
Racing: Burnout - Legends, Ridgeracer, Wipeout Pure
Stealth Shooter: Syphon Filter - Dark Mirror (great game), Metal Gear Solid - Portable ops
Tactical Shooter: Killzone - Liberation (another great game)
Platformer: Daxter
Weird-fun game: Loco Roco
Fighter: Tekken Dark Ressurection

He got it spot on!

Don't forgot that with the custom firmware from dark_alex you can run any playstation 1 game as well as play videos at full 480x272 resolution. Wipeout 3SE on my psp is just awesome!

Yeah! I got my PSP back in March, when it first came out, and I've been with the homebrew scene since the beginning. You don't even need to buy games to have alot of fun on your psp any more. There's a whole lot of great homebrew games and emulators which can all be had for free.

If you want info about it, go here http://pspupdates.qj.net/ and check out the forums and downloads.

well >>obviously<< knowing that he has a computer to type on this forum, why not torrent the pc version in the first place. its many times better on a pc with better graphics and its pratically the same gameplay, and ive played it on the pc and its really not that good.

OTOH nfs most wanted on the pc was wayy better and there were more long stretches of road and it doesnt look like yet another underground clone. urgh.

AND, there are MANY other games and better choices he can play on the psp that are better than nfsc. I never buy EA games for consoles because i only need one copy and that one copy is best suited on my pc imo.

Probably the most underrated PSP game so far, and my favorite:

There's a sequal too. This is probably my 2nd favorite game:

I consider myself to be an authority on PSP games having owned well over 50, with the most being 45 at once before I stopped collecting (some jerk stole my PSP). I gotta get another one...

It was ok and i'm not much of a fighting fan except for Power Stone.

I tried pretty much all the 'top games' (first page of top rated games in gamespot reviews)
And i can easily say that megaman: powered up is the one that got the most of my playtime.. and i'd still be playing it if my psp wasn't stolen

Daxter was excellent, but it didn't last for very long
NFS carbon is worth looking at, soccer (take a pick, they're all good) is fun if you're into it and i know lots of people who loves MGS: portable ops.. Not really my thing though

I had it, you'll get bored after three minutes. The d-pad and analog "nub" just aren't made for 2D fighters. And for some reason the aspect ratio automatically defaults to widescreen, making everything look stretched.

That game is full of bugs and slowdown, I'd get Midnight Club 3 if you want a street racing game. However, I think that Wipeout Pure is the best racing game on PSP, very fast and it's quite challenging. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is also fun if you're into stealth action.

Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and SOCOM 2 get my vote.

Tekken DR is also very good on the PSP. Shows you what this platform can do.

I like the Midnight Club driving too, though the courses and car selections need to be expanded. I have Dub 3 and there are no bmws, porsches, honda, etc. GTA and others are criminal (stealing and killing) in nature and not my taste.
