Good Budget Speakers other than Insignia? - Page 2

u could try the t-amp but honestly I don't think it will cut it. no harm in trying I suppose but just my opinion. I know it doesn't make much sense but from amp to amp they have different ways of performing. Some will do ok with low sensitivity speakers like the insignias and some won't even work. My amp is 10 watts per channel and can push even less sensitive speakers with authority but it's also $1300 so unless you are in a hurry it would be better to try and get $100 together and get something a bit stouter.

The T-amp is only 6watts into 8ohm speakers. After the 6 watts it starts distorting. You may not notice it until you get closer to the 10 watts but you will notice it. A lot of the people using the T-amp are using it in nearfield listening and/or with very sensitive speakers (90db or better).

im getting a wide array of candidates from craigslist... some are going up to 200W per channel...

and from best buy's website, the insignia's can only take 120W maximum.

some people dont even give model #'s or any specs other than "they are old and good condition" when i ask them

someone has a Pioneer SX-225 for less than $40... probably around $20. is that good?

also, someone was selling a Pioneer VSX-D307 for $50. i think that's too powerful?

and a "fisher 100W" receiver... for $10. dunno about that one.
