Good Budget Speakers other than Insignia?

Hey guys, i was looking at the Insignia Boookshelf speakers from Best Buys, but they have recently almost double in price I was planning on hooking it up with a T-Amp to have some awesome budget speakers to listen to whenever I get tired from headphones.

Any other "cheap" budget options? I don't want 5.1 because of too much clutter and space issues. (I'm a college student.) A subwoofer may be good, but I'd rather not have it for now if it's too big.

Any suggestions? Price range is ~$100

P.S. - I have the E-MU 0404 USB, if the speakers are compatible with that without a separate amp, it would be even better.

dude I have a pretty much new pair of the Insignias left for $65 shipped. just took them out of the box to realize that I couldn't get surround sound out of my pc w/out creatives dumbass surround cable which would take out my digital i/o lol.

I would think twice on the T-amp. It has no bass. I have two, I've tried them. I use them good for driving surround backs in conjuction with my stereo systems.

Here you go, some of my impressions on a few bookshelves. You can do the same as all of these were readily available at either CC or BB. They all have 30 day money back garauntees so you can audition some on your own. I just with they had the infinity primus 150 as well so i could try those.

Watch craigslist. You may have to wait, but good things roll around every now and then.

anyways, I can plug the amp into my E-MU 0404 USB right? as long as it ends into a 1/8" TRS plug i'm good to go?

that should be great. mine is only 10 watts, but its a solid 10, not this new crap that you get with entry recievers.

Might want to check ebay too

rember that most book shelfs, and full range horns for that matter, dont need alot of power. SO if you find a really nice 10 watt that you like dont hesitate to get it.
WAYY over priced... I got the same one for $50, but a nice amp

wait, but if 10 watts is enough, shouldnt the t-amp be more than enough? i probably wont get the t-amp anyways, ~$30 + wal-war is already over ~$40...

i might as well pick up a bigger, better, and more expandable amp/receiver on craigslist... i just need to find one that isn't too far away

of course, buying from a merchant would always be my preference.
