The Singlepower amps with the more powerful output tubes (6BX7GT, 6BL7GT/A, 5687, 6080, 5998, etc...)

I am listening to my 701's right now through a Singlepower MPX3 slam as PFKman23 recommended above. Sweet!

OK, we did not plan the SP bumrush. I'm very happy with the Platinum. How much are you willing to spend?

Well since there's mention of one mid-priced amp and 3 high $$$ amps, I'll throw in my little cheapie, Chinese Xiang Sheng 708B.

However, if you go this route, I strongly recommend re-tubing it with some quality NOS tubes at least. And if you're feelin' a little adventurous, you could always mod it like some of us have done. For under $400US total including mods, you can have one heck of an amp!

You can also check posts by mrarroyo. He had chance to listen to MAD Purist HD, Heed Canamp, HeadFive, with K701, and he ranked them in the same order of synergy, respectively.

Any of my three amps.

At an average price of $400 each for the three, any one of them will beat or meet the sound quality of any other amp at three times the price ($1200).


Why waste money?

Amen, are you telling us that amps made for $400 are made out of same components even the best amps for $1200 are made out of?

I'd imagine Singlepower owners would call a BS on that one.

My budget is around $1K +/-. So far I have looked at the RSA Raptor, Singlepower PPX3/MPX3 and the Mapltree Ear+ HD. I also plan on adding a pair of W5000's into the mix so it must be a good amp for all of my headphones.

Guys it is subjective. Anyone can claim that any amp sounds better than another amp, because it is all opinion. Just because an amp has expensive parts does not mean it beats out any thing that costs less money. Chinese labor is also a lot cheaper, so a $1200 amp in the US can compare with a $400 amp in China. I am not saying anything bad about Singlepower, and I have not heard the Slam, but there is no need to get into a pissing match that my amp sounds better than your amp.
