I think they just made a system out of every headphone and amp combination they have essentially...I mean, at this point the numbers they are putting up for these are making me laugh.

Anyone have a slight feeling that Stax ran out of improvement capacity that they can think of?

Is it possible that people purchase a Stax without knowing that it needs a special amp, therefore they are helping their sales with their product packaging?

iono, don't you ever notice how before they had 1 phone - 1 amp combo, and you could purchase em separately to cross-combined, but now you can get anything as a combo...

Although I gotta give them for the frequency response of that amp targeted towards higher audio resolution sources, that is quite excellent. Just somehow someone has to now test it out if it actually makes a difference.

Local stores in Japan have been selling the 404 and 717 as a set for years. Electrostatics like beefy amps.

Correctimundo! The 717 has been replaced by the 727, according to Tats at Yamas, and the PriceJapan site shows it as discontinued. Maybe AC got hold of some NOS for a blow-out?
