the problem is how do you store the headphones after you take them out?

olive oil is just inviting dirt.

The tri-flanges shouldn't be sopping wet with olive oil. When you wipe off the excess olive oil with a paper towel, you shouldn't see anything on the tri-flanges at all. No shiny surface, no nothing - it should look like as if it wasn't treated with olive oil at all in the first place.

As for storage, I keep them in the case they came in (ER-20 in its case, ER-4 in its case).

Also, although I'm not sure about dirt, coating your tri-flanges with a very thin layer of olive oil actually repels earwax buildup (on the outsides of the tri-flanges) to a certain extent.

No thanks. My skin is already oily and they slide right in.

Hmm...I should try this, thanks for the idea vyu223. I have bi-flanges on my UM1s but for a reason. When I use tri-flanges, the smallest tip when inserted properly hurts my ear and creates a headache for me like I was grinding my temples, that problem is solved with bi-flanges. Maybe it's just me...

I need to give these a try! The flanges do fit a little better than the ones that came with the UM2. Those were huge and I have big ears too!

Seriously, you guys can stand having something oily deep inside your ears?

I haven't tried it but the thought of it is eeeeeeeeeekkkkkk..
I cant stand it when my ears are oily, naturally of course

You must avoid getting salavia, earwax and olive oil on the filters because it will make them unusable.
