They are one of the muddier sounding iems but they definitely do not lack any of the sonical properties of music. I find the bass somewhat too boomy and uncontrolled sometimes.
Anyways, I'm just gonna say VModas for now. I haven't tried them yet but I haven't seen anyone really complaining about it especially on the aesthetics and fit department. I'm sure there are others, but if you can't get a good seal through the e2c, then PROBABLY you won't like other iems. I say stay with canalphones that almost always provide the best fit, anytime.

Good luck

again, I dont think you are going to find 'better' but you will find 'different.'

This is where personal taste comes in, some people love the e2s some people love the er6. if you pull the trigger on the er6is they will sound different to you, but you're not going to get better. People can argue this, but its really boiling down to personal taste in the same price range. They all deliver good sound differently into your ear. Vmodes, the e2s, the er6's, the um1s are all great phones. People prefer some over others.

Personally, I would up your budget and then you'll be talking improvement to the quality of sound that enters your ear!

The world of High Fidelity is like cars. Gotta spend some dough to get some speed. The better sound needs more bread.

This is why $1k speakers sound better than $100 speakers. The more you spend the better quality components you get. Copper verses silver. Three drivers verses two. Carbon Fiber verse paper. Ah, the active crossover verses passive arguement (I love that one, its almost as good as horsepower verses torque!).

While there are some great bargains in the headphone world, everything is generally "tiered" in relation to cash. People can rave all day about the um2 but when you stack that up against e500 there is a significant difference in the quality of sound. The same goes for the e500 against the UE10s. so on and so forth.

If you want better for your money, prowl for some used higher end gear within your budget. If you want off the shelf, up your budget.

I'm sorry if i'm coming across rude, i'm just being realistic.

I agree, you will most likely not find something a whole lot better for under $100, but you will find different. It's sounds like that is what you need anyway. The E2c are great if you can get a seal, but they are hard to get a seal with, and even after you get a seal for most they are still uncomfortable. The JBL220's or CX-300s will be good sound sigs for rock or rap, and because they are canalphones they will be easier to get a seal with. If you need more isolation get the Senn CX-300's and if isolation is not so important, get the more balanced sounding 220's.
