1. Doesn't really sound like grado, it uses a different driver, but it shares a lot of common parts with the SR-125.

2. Leaks bad. They're like speakers on your head. People around you will hear the music.

damn too bad about the leakage because they seem like the perfect phones for me besides the leakage

If you don't want any leakage, you need to look at a closed can or IEM. Some good closed cans in the MS1's approximate price range....Sony MDR-V6, AKG K81DJ, Beyerdynamic DT 250-80, etc......

I have 2 questions.

1: My MS1s have grado written on the metal / silver thing underneath the black grill - looking in from the outside to the inside where the wires are - is that the driver or something else?

2: As you can see in the pics on each side one swivel is neatly put in, the other seems to have an extra hole next to - is that what they are all like or are these going to go back? I just got them today.

IMO Grado's don't leak as bad as people say. They are great for level listening so they are like speakers but in a good way. You can here your music at and ideal volume and be able to head people around you.

The silver thingy with Grado written on it is indeed the driver. As you probably know it uses Grado drivers as its basically an SR125.

I also have that extra hole, I guess it's another example of Grado's poor quality control.

Using it in office, my colleagues sitting around me 2m away are not complaining.

I also think the leakage thing is overstated.  I haven't had anyone complain while wearing Grados either.  But it could be the volume one listens at too.

I haven't had a leakage problem with mine yet. I wear them while my family watches TV in our living room, at higher volumes they may leak more. People will be able to stick their head next to yours and hear exactly what you hear. The cord is longer than I am used to and makes walking around my house with it connected to an ipod a pain. Other than that they sound great!
