I see on you pics that you use a mixer close to mine (mine is Eurorack UB1002 )when i first test my Grado with it then with Total Bithead i had a So Big difference that i understand it was not only the DAC who give me soo good sound, i was true, i do the test Grado direct to PC headphone output and the sound was great, in 2 word since this day i thought my Eurorack UB1002 s@ck, today i see you have a mixer of same serie with all you Fantastic gear, did i miss something ? cable can be the cause for a so bad result i had with it (until i test grado, before i didn't noticed that)

Also if you can tell me where did you buy the "thing" who make you mixer almost vertical, look so cool and will give me more place on my desktop

Haha, yea. Actually these two reviews were featured on the Woo website, and that's how I came upon them.

My next plan of battle in this crusade is to use the all mighty search function.

Glad he did! The WA6 is on the top of my current list! Any new info is good new info!

...yeah I'm a great fan of the search function too, but there's only so much stuff out there yet. Day One wasn't that long ago!

Very good initial summary George. I have a few of the same components that you own...Woo Audio 3 (well, close anyway)...Central Station, PA2v2, HD 650 , ER4P.

You mention using max. volume with the 650, with my WA3, max. is quite loud, I often hit the wall at around 2 o'clock. My source is a Pioneer Elite DV-45A (universal player). For Redbook CD I use a digital connection into the CS using its DAC. I do have 2 other components in between the CS & WA3 so that might be an issue with my resuts. The WA3 & WA6 are beautiful amps. I had many of the same emotions when listening to my WA3 for the first time. Easily worth the money. At the time my best can was the DT-880 which also sounds wonderful with tubes.

I actually like the CS amp for its razor sharp detail, it is my favorite amp for my DT-770 (Darth Beyers). For most music I do prefer tubes with my 880 or 650.

Nice review.

I have the Presonus and like it as a headphone amp. Have you experimented with modding your sources to increase the gain for the Presonus balanced inputs?

Yes you buy they direct, which is one of the reasons they are such a good price. I would get the upgraded coupling caps and the Blackgate power supply caps.

Hi there. Sorry for the late reply. I am not checking the forums lately and for some reason I don't receive PM notifications. I don't use the mixer for playback, just for mixing. When I listen to music, I bypass as many components as possible and try to go straight from the source to the amp to the headphone/speakers. So, yes, you may be right about the phone preamp of this mixer: it probably is not good. I have never tried it.

The stand is just a modified plastic book stand from Walmart that you use to put pieces of paper on it to copy them to your computer, for example. I just snapped the top part off, so that it does not protrude from the top and I put some rubber feet on it, so that it doesn't slide.

Hell everyone. Thanks for the nice words. I have not been visiting the forums lately and I had no idea this thread was back from the dead. I have not gotten the Extreme (at least not yet) as I have not had much time to listen to music from a desktop amp. I have been traveling a lot outside the country. I'm back for a few weeks and then out again. I will post an update as soon my job doesn't require that much traveling.

Also, for some reason I don't receive PM's. so feel free to send me an email, if you need anything.
