Nik,
That second photo you posted looks exactly like the setup I had a brief listen to at the Tokyo International Audio Show in September. That'll be the Luxman DU-10 below and an Audio-Technica ATH-W10LTD plugged into the P-1.

Hi j-curve,

thank you a lot for your answer...

can you tell me something about the Luxman P-1? What your impressions listening this amp?

Thanks!
Nicola

Hi Nik,
I got less than 5 minutes with the setup, with unfamiliar source, music & phones. It sounded good, but I couldn't pretend to offer a review of the phones, let alone the amp. I posted a couple of words in the other thread, for what it's worth.

nicola,

you honestly think the luxman will sound better then your angstrom mark2???!!!

just wondering.

on topic: the specs are much better then the C.e.c. hd 51 i auditioned.
i think the power of 53 mwatts isn't that much to drive the hd600, isn't it? is this gonna give any problems with high ohms cans?
the 32 ohms specs look really good tho. think that amp gonna make the rs1 sing?!

P.s.
would love to hear that rig of yours!

P.P.s.
everybody in the musicbusiness is lyrical about your linn sondek 12! it's just the best (analog)sounding cd-player at the moment. well, for $20.000 it should be!
_ according to the pictures of the opened amp i can see two powersupplies. i think this means it is a dual mono setup?!

it will sound very good if it is!

just hope that amp will be available in europe!

still looking for the right amp. ( can't afford the angstrom 2 )

My question about the sound is just to say that if you do not LISTEN an amp or a headphone, ecc, ecc, you cannot to tell nothing of them! If it's impossible to have a test, better to buy a cheaper thing but you can to know, with your ears, this is my experience, even when I bought my Linn CD 12...

The experiences of heafiers can to help a lot in going to the right direction... but is always better to judge with own ears!

The Luxman P-1 is only for Japan, only 100V, not for Europe!

Best!
Nicola
