It is a FINE amp, no doubt - it's among my very favorites. But there really isn't anything little about it, physically or sonically

Oh boy! Rub it in some more why don't ya!? After I got rid of mine! Ironic how I tried to get Skylab to say both the TH and Xenos were equals and to just call it a tie!! Blindbuy comes back and now they're tied for 3 in the rankings.... *sigh*... it never ends!

It's BIG.... BIG I say!

Edit: I matured in the last hour.

Anyway, I have had the GV3 and GV5. I think they hold awesome value. I can't wait to see GV6!

it's footprint next to my Heed makes it look tiny. Next to a GV it looks long and heavy. Qualitatively it looms large. What a pleasure it has turned out to be. And I had no real plans for it to go anywhere in a pocket anyway.

I think we should get this thread back on topic.

Are there any pictures of the actual new metal case anywhere?

Not that I know of, but on the site Norm makes reference to it resembling the GV 4g(b?)... definitely not glitzy...

Norm has emailed me this morning that the release date is February 25th of GV6. I am sure he will post some pictures of the new metal case prior to that release date.

Since the original Govibes used Hammonds, I have a feeling it will look something like those?

I am glad I waited,. I am buying one for my portable rig.

I have a question now that I look over the opamps - but LM6171/2 draws 2.5ma per channel - so 7.5ma for the three cores in the GV5.

In the GV6 there is an 8397 and 825 so that makes 15ma for the 8397 per core, and 7.2ma for the 825. So 37.2ma...that's a big increase from the 7.5ma requirments of before......Have i misunderstood?

in contrast 3*8610 would be 9.5mah...........

How will the battery life work out? Or will the 8397 and company not need that much current?

@Andrea: I edited my post in any event. I don't want to contribute to the drama.

@Everyone else: I've been using an 8397/6171 in my GV5S and battery life is still pretty good. I haven't measured, but I can say it is more than 20 hours with alkaline.
