My guess is he was talking about robm, but referred to the post that quoted you. Rob seems to be just slightly biased towards the K1000 and his Grados.

Don't think he was referring to my post...

But I think the bored comments are more about the repetative nature of threads that really are about nothing which is this one.... yet I continue to look at it... why????

I prefer Grados, but do appreciate Senns for what they do. Most of my posts are negative about the Senns, but I actually do think they are wonderful headphones - I should be nicer to them huh?

Almost off of work - HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I would think so, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. What I can't quite understand is why it takes a year to bring a product to market if it is indeed so far along in terms of the design?

assuming all of this is true (which is a big "if") i would think it would take a while since sennheiser has an enormous operation, and they probably want to built up momentum. i don't know why they wouldn't do it for the christmas shopping season... but whatever.

Maybe they know how many people will want to buy them and want to ensure they have enough supply to meet the demand.

Maybe so they can milk the current top-of-the-line cans for a while longer.

I think you are right. Sennheiser must be 100% certain that the 700 is going to be the absolutely best headphone out there. There is no room for mistakes, the expectations are HUUUUGE!

I don't think it will be the best headphone out there, and I'm sure that it is not Sennheiser's goal to convince people that there is no better option on the market. I think they will strive to make it as good as possible, but they have to have a budget, and make sure it attracts an audience. Business is business and audiophile headphones can't and will not change that (the Orpheus might, but that was an item reserved for the niche market). However, I trust Sennheiser to make a product that is at least a little bit better than the 650's; which are by no means a bad set of cans.

Maybe not "the best out there", but the new one has to be a lot better than the HD650.
Don`t get me wrong, the 650 certainly isn´t a bad phone, but there still is a lot of air to above.
Given sennheiser`s excellent reputation, given the fact that the 650 is more "mid-fi", and seeing the high-end products of competing companies Sennheiser has to offer something really better, and they have to do so quickly. Otherwise they`ll lose their reputation, being more regarded as a mass-seller of low-budget phones.

To be perfectly honest:
Being a german I`m quite a bit embarrassed that Sennheiser doesn`t have anything better to offer than the 650. As good as it still is.

Quite a confusing post. I get an impression that you think that HD650 doesn't cost enough to be classified as a high-end headphone. Would you be happy if they'd cost twice as much or what?

I classify them as high-end just like Omega II, W5000, RS-1 etc.
