Paid for a pair today and will be listening in a few weeks when I get back home.

anyone paired these with an OTL amp like WA2? Any tube recommendations? Or maybe a 100 Ohm adapter to raise impedance?

DX1000 sounds GREAT paired with WA2

(I'm selling my DX1000, sale is pending, since I rarely get a chance to listen to music at home, and when I do, I prefer T1. But for rock music and also a lot of reggae and soul music, I prefer DX1000. Just can't afford to have this kind of luxury lying around unused...)

I think you'll be very happy with the combination. WA2 controls DX1000 really well. And the soundstage is just amazing:-)

That sounds like I chose the right headphones. I cannot wait to get to listen to them - June 10th I will be home and that will be the first hting I will do - test them with WA2.

Can't wait to hear your impressions on them

Been listening to them from PC>FLAC>AP2>Octave>WA2 and I have to say they are very good. Listening to the new Slash album - Apocalyptic Love. I have to say I am surprised with the amount of detail and clarity. I was expecting something more like D7000 with only bass and nothing else. These really are top-tier phones.

soon i get my second dx-1000 modded.

i had the first modded with blue tack and norseaudio 8 wires.

the second pair is modded with a specific damping product(very light but i don´t remeber the name) and rewired with the norseaudio norn 1.

the amplifier is the balanced bete-22

with this configuration the jvc has won some top headphones.

the midrange is fantastic and with controlled low frequencies, the headphone buys an enviable balance

Got mine today and am loving it.

Sound great with the RSA71B but SENSATIONAL with the WA22

How much burn in time do these need, if any.

Is there anyone out there who has experience using the DX1000 with a Woo Audio 5 amp and who would care to give some impressions?

I've been pussyfooting around for eons deciding between a WA22 and a WA5 but I love my DX1000s enough that they have to mate well with my next amp.

i think that the balanced connection help this wonderful headphone because fails to dampen the exuberant bass, standing out the rest of the frequencies

I own the WA5-LE and the DX1000 recabled wit the Zeus cable. They sound fantastic. The sound is very clean, sweet with great bass (without being overhelming) and a big soundstage.

Before buying my WA5-LE I was keyed on buying the WA22 becuase my system is fully balanced from source to headphones. I went to CanJam in 2010 and brought my balanced T1 recabled also with the Zeus in a shotgun configuration (one independent lead per channel) and my Zeus balanced to TRS adapter. First I listened to the WA22 and I was very impressed but later I went to listen to the WA5-LE using my adapter and I was blown away. Even that my ear were telling me to go with the WA5-LE I was still hesitant becuase of the balanced configuration of the WA22 until I have a 30 minutes conversation with Jack. He gave me an explanation of both amps and the reason why the WA5-LE was a better amp even being single ended so between what my ear were telling me and Jack explanation I decide to order the WA5-LE and I am still very happy with it.

The only thing I would change of my decision is that I would order the WA5 and not the LE so I can get the extra power out of the K1000 socket for the orthos. The LE does a very good job with them but they will bebefit even more with the extra power of the K1000 output.

If you have the funds and space for the WA5 or LE I would go for either of thoes in my opinion.

You mean a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter?

Yes. I bought a cheap one when the original gave up, but the new one doesn't fit well so I can hardly move my head without the audio acting up.
