haha, yeah it's true that large, medium, and small are very vague but i think if you have a particularly large or small head you would know. like me.

if you haven't thought about your head size before, i guess that's because you have the average head and didn't require any thinking. haha.

then i'm assuming most people would go for medium since that would be the *norm*... again, whatever that is.

i think i'm not making any sense, but whatever. fun poll anyway.

I think it's easier to gauge when you go on a standard scale. Like 'clicks' on the V6/7506. I'm number 6, and that's fitting them tightly.

My hatsize is "small" and the wind has a pretty easy time blowing it off. I think that would put my headsize at small.

Great idea bangraman. I went and set mine up to see where they fit the most comfortably, and it is in between 6 and 7 clicks on both phones. But setting one to 7 and one to 6 seems to work best!!!

my head goes from small, medium to large when i'm in the mood...clerk, strike that from the record please...

well, seeing how many clicks on a headphone would be nice, but not everyone has that headphone.

likewise, hat size doesn't take into account the top portion of your head. my head is prolonged in the back, while someone else may have a 'tall' noggin. so what's small? and what's large?

maybe we sould measure the distance from the top of one ear lobe, over the head (where the headphone band rides) to the top of the other earlobe.

I say this because even though I have a "large" head, with Grado SR80s the headband doesn't even touch the top of my head when it is in the minimum position, yet when I put on my AD10s I have to use the maximum length of the headband to get good sound out of them.

another measurement would be from the centre of the ear canal to the centre of the other ear's ear canal. this would do away with how big your ears are, though. and what about the will smiths and clark gables out there? shouldn't someone be measuring ear cup pad depth? 0.5" seems to be the norm, but what if you have will smith or clark gable ears?

no extra large? i have to set the headband for my v6 to almost maximum extension. some headphones don't fit at all. i have a large head with a very high forehead, so must hats just kind of perch on top. when julia brought a cap back for me from london, it was a nice, snug fit. i asked her how she knew my hat size and she said "i just asked for the largest size they had".

one thing i've always wondered, does a bigger head mean a wider soundstage?

hmmm..

Well in my teen-age horse riding days it was 6-7/8, and I've grown a little since then, but not a whole lot. I'd say I'm in the size 7 range.

I can fit the dt990s in 3 clicks on either side. It would fit in 1 on either side, but I prefer the sound at the size 3. Remember those Beyers have the head-clamp tight band. The actual headphones on me are huuuuuge. I can fit the sr60s with no adjustment, the Senn px200s at two or three clicks on either side, depending on hair altitude.

I suppose that means medium?

Only if you stick some Sony ear buds up your nose!!!!!!

Or was that for surround sound?????

I voted large.
The Senn 580 clamped on my head like a vice.

Sorry. Good job Raymondlin!! I liked the idea of using something else as a judge for figuring out the size of one's head other than hat size!!! Misplaced accolades were given to the wrong person, oops!!!
