I tried David's Equinox, and while it yielded improvements, I just didn't feel compelled enough to get after-market cables for the HD650s. So I think I'll just stick with stock for now.

I've tried the zu, but only in passing. i'd have to get used to my set up to see how it actually does against other cables.

i've done several shoot outs and these are my conclusions.

M3/benchmark
Blue Dragon>Equionox>stock>silver dragon> Cardas

Wadia/Headroom Max
Wavyern> Equinox> zu > blue Dragon > cardas

dynamight/benchmark
Equinox> wavyern > Blue Dragon > stock

Zana Deux/Zhaolu
Equionx > Blue Dragon

humanflyz- it might actually be worth it to try a silver or brighter cable... my impression of the cardas has mostly to do with the type of music i listen to.. on other music it does very well.

Hehe, what I personally want to know is how K1000 sounds with Zana Deux (with proper adapter, of course).

This brings back fond memories of my Dynahi. Yeah, it sounded great with most 'phones, but it REALLY brought HP1000 to life. When I get a hold of HP1000, I will re-buy another Dynahi.

This reminds me. A friend offered to loan me his F1 to compare to my Almarro, but I've been so busy/lazy. Perhaps I need to go grab the F1 sooner than later

Yeah, but this isn't about the Lavry's performance as a DAC; we were comparing its balanced amp section with a Dynahi.

Congrats on the Dynahi my thoughts on it pretty much mirror yours. It's still my favorite SS amp.
