Maybe I have magical ears (jk). When I was listening to Vivaldi I could hear more plucking of the strings and when I was listening to metal the cymbals seemed more defined and crisp but still fat. This seemed to decrease a bit.

I just tried the tri-F and was really impressed at how the high end sounded (so detailed) but I thought it wrecked the bass. So in my wisdom I thought I'll turn them into Bi-F and the seal will be better thus better bass. Bass is better but muddy compared to rubber, PVC, and foam ends. To make matters worse the highs don't sound as good as they did before the cut was made .

Welcome to Head-Fi Edmonton

Ahh, another Edmonton Head-Fi member... :-) I joined back in November and have been noticing my wallet get thinner by the month.

I bought a set of Etymotic ER-4P's and am generally happy with them although I would prefer more base presence and have been tempted to consider the Sure E5's or the E500's. I sampled the E4C's at the West Ed London Drugs and while they were good, I preferred by ER4P's.

Like you, I actually notice a difference between 320 mp3 (Lame -extreme) and ALAC lossless on my ER4P's. There is definitely something missing on the mp3's, particularily in the top end. I was hoping I wouldn't hear a difference...

Welcome to group, and make sure you keep an eye out for the next Head-Fi Edmonton meet. I went the first one in November and look forward to when Jon (or someone) is able to organize the next one.

I've been taking my dog and my UM2s out in subzero (F) temps 2x/day for the last 10 days or so for about 45 minutes at a time (Cesar's Way!). No problems at all.

Some Clarification

Hi,
There is something wrong with your posting.
Your title says E500 and you have actually mentioned about E5c.
Could you be a little more specific?
Thanks,
Kousik.

I wanted to post this thread so individuals that are like me have an opportunity to hear a review from someone who made the huge jump in headphone quality.
I'm pretty sure that guy was just trying to be funny.. good one

Anyway, i'm not sure which one you got, e5 or e500?

Mine is the E500. I think you may have been confused when I discussed the mod I did on the triple flanges.

I highly recommend the e500, responds well to all types of music and responds well to EQ changes really well if you go in the -db range (e.g. normal rock eq bumps up the low frequencies and high frequencies, instead knock down the mids and increase your volume).

I'm scared to go to a HiFi meeting. HiFi meeting = hearing others setups = Jim buying more stuff (although I'm very interested to hear the bling bling ALO connector with a rsa tomahawk and my e500s.)

You're writing a biography about yourself. That's interesting.

They call that an autobiography.
