I doubt I could afford them out of my next pay packet but I fancy getting my hands on a custom DT990 over the coming months.

I've taken some screen shots of my options, not so sure on the Blue option at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone out there has a similar setup and could take some pix please?

Hi,
I recall someone posting a pic IIR a blue pair setup as you have in post of a couple of months ago - do forum search for it.
My dt990/600 2005 are all black, except "allur-ring" is red (in real life not as strong a red as suggested in illustration - more the appearance of typical anodized aluminium). Since you have a Prehead (as I do), may I STRONGLY suggest you make it a point to select the 600 ohm version - it's a whole different animal than the other options.
.......I'm not sure how euro Vat is handled in relation to UK and your "happy" tax situation, but want to mention that in the design/ordering process, VAT is included in the individual item pricings - then for a US sale, that 17+% is deducted and $20 shipping charge added. So, cost may or may not be as bad as you expect when you are making selections for leather headband (which I have and like very much) and other items.
Rest assured you will probably be extremely happy with you choice of the new dt990 2005 - I am!

Just btw, I think it is a pity one cannot define different colors for each side. One could have red & blue for right & left

I've just has a quick search of the forum which has turned up;







I think I'm falling for the all Black with Crimson Headband and Earpads.

I'm not one for taking a lot of pics and have none with the 990's alone, but here is a reprise of one I posted re another issue:

If you use Opera, it's easy to magnify and zero in on them

I was looking at a Red Aluring and possibly a Red Yoke to break up the black which seem to look great on your pair.

Go for it, man! :-)

The only problem is that you can't get a black cover for the Manufacture DT880. It'll be steel, as the standard DT880.

Holy crap, that silver 880 with red headband is stunning.

I remember seeing a picture from some trade show in I think Europe where Beyerdynamic had an entire rack of something like 20 differently customized Manufactures. Anyone know where we can find that picture?
