somehow i don't think that's a scary story, more of a sad one. now if she started killing people with her "red" eye... that would be creepy.

Am I the only person who didn't get the story? So there's a ghost in the other room, one with a red eye. Why is this scary/creepy? I kinda expected the woman to be a ghost...but what is the significance of the red eye?

The creepy factor is that she was THAT CLOSE to him as he attempted to peer in again.

A red eye is a red eye. The background of it is for another time, another story

Ah, got it. I read that story too fast and didn't pick up the part where he looked in again to see a red light. Okay, that is creepy. :P

By the way, good short story.
WORD! Who goes around poking holes into the walls of their host's homes?

Cool story.

Which reminds me -- there's a whole genre in Chinese (and I suspect Japanese too) literature of "ghost stories". Stories very much along the same line -- complex, twists, but quite revealing of human nature. I used to have a couple of anthologies of English translations. I wonder where they are...

Don't worry about it...my gf, who is normally very sharp didn't get the story at all. Needless to say, I had to explain it to her and thus the creepy facotr was gone

Oh, and mikuhf...why don't you ask the ghost behind you where they are?
