Why are people on eBay so obnoxiously stupid?

Right, so there is an auction with 6 days left and already 12 people have placed bids driving the price up more than double the starting price. I mean, do these people simply not think? Placing a bid so early does nothing but hinder, even the person that placed the bid. It will attract more attention to the item, cause bidding wars (days before the auction end) and skyrocket the price. How can people be SO stupid? I don't get it. Placing a bid 24 hours before the auction end is not the brightest idea. But SIX DAYS?

I am really at a loss as to what goes on in the minds of these people. And a lot of them are people with 1000+ positive feedback.

most of the time they are snivling little sh1ts on ebay, you walk a thin line any time you buy/ sell anything on there.

Its rare to find good sellers/buyers..

only reason you make a big bid early is to put of other bidders.
if its high enough people will usually fold they cards and stop bidding.

but then you or whoever makes the high bid has to be happy paying the extra to ensure they get it.

No they are all people with 500 and 1000+ feedback, all of which are legit by other ebay members with a lot of feedback.

Maybe they just really want that particular item and they're willing to pay that much. I get a bit pissed over eBay prices at times, but if you're patient you can get what you want at a price close to what you're willing to pay....patience grasshopper.

what i find more stupid is some people actaully paid more for a new item on ebay than what you could buy elsewhere. i guess thats how those powerseller cheat off people.

I can't stand people who do that, it makes absolutely no sense, especially when they pay more for a used item than a new one costs.

On the other hand, stupidity often helps me get good deals on anime on ebay. There's so many bootlegs for sale with very low fixed prices that it drives the prices down and helps to divert attention away from the occasional legit auctions.

the first and third i understand because they would ship internationally, and Grados cost more than that internationally, plus shipping ain't cheap. but the second makes no sense - that's a US-only sale, what gives lol.

Yeah, I don't quite what their logic is on placing a bid that early. I can see if it was a noob who don't quite understand how the game is played. A veteran Ebayer with 500+ feedback, you'd think they would know better.

Wow, EBAY is an awesome Sellers market.

I've sold some things recently and cannot believe the price I received. It was literally beyond all my expectations.

On one auction, I had a guy bid against himself! He ended up bidding three straight times in one day.

He was local, so he ended up meeting me to pick up the item. But, I just wanted to ask him, "what the hell dude?"

he was nervous about snipers so he kept setting higher and higher final numbers. and if a sniper bids high but doesn't hit your final number, autobid shows it as you rebidding as well i believe. well all that fun history will be anon pretty soon.

btw as a seller i always filter out the riffraff by selecting all the options i can - no negative feedbackers, ebay addresses only in my country, item shipping only to my country, buy it now = immediate payment via paypal only, bids can only be made by paypallers. yes, the bid wars are less and the bidders are fewer, but since i always post up the minimum i'd be happy with and no reserve, i'm never disappointed even if only one person takes a flyer.

Alright thanks, I always wondered that. I don't bid on Ebay, only done the Buy it Now thing. Well, it sure looked silly from a seller standpoint.
