I got my Shure SE315 as a gift, and I absolutely love them, here's the review:
Build Quality:
I think the SE315 has excellent build quality, with its detachable and robust cables, L...
I haven't finished getting used to these yet so please check back in future for a full review and accurate scores. For now, let me tell a short tale... I hope you'll stick with me here and I...
I bought these puppies just before Christmas and they have been a revelation.
I can't tell you how much they suit my listening tastes. I love close listening with lots of treble and tight...
First of all let me say this is one of my favourite BA driver earphones I have ever heard.
That said, being a basshead, these didn't deliver in the bass department - I can't deny the fact...
some suggest putting them over a stack of books for a few days when not in use until the headband loosens up, but prolonged practice isn't recommended as it may flatten your earpads
otherwise they will slowly stretch out to fit your head as you use wear them
Okay don't blame me if you try this or I have no idea what I'm talking about and it doesn't apply. I don't own Sennheisers.
Anyway someone who wanted to reshape the KSC-55s dipped the plastic headband in hot water and then did the stack of book things for an hour or two and then wore them for a bit and apparently that really helped strectch them out. I know that's just a simple plastic loop etc, but still should do something if it is plastic.
So if they're plastic, which as I said, not sure don't own them and going by the pics they look plastic to me but you mention metal.
Also disclaimer, don't dip the drivers in the water, may alter the strength of the plastic etc. etc.
I think they will wear in just given time!
I had HD580 for nearly 8 years and when I got my HD650 at Christmas they seemed very tight compared to old. Already after a few weeks they have softened up!
my dad loosened mine up when he was "borrowing" them. Not sure what he did but they are now a perfect fit. They hd650's should be very tough as the housing is titanium.
Straddle the 650 over a stack of books and leave it on overnight, it should loosen up in the morning. If you're worried about the earpads flattening then you should take out the earpads (just tug at them, they'll come out) before you start the loosening process.
Whatever you do, don't bend them with your hands, they're not designed to handle that kind of loading, I've heard reports of broken headbands from people who attempted the hand method.
I noticed the same thing. Don't worry.. after a while your skull will reshape itself and you will have permanent oval donut shaped trenches in the sides of your head.
