Replacing damaged SR80 cables

I damaged the cable that goes to the left side, and the plug on my Grados pretty badly, but the headphones themselves are fine. Would it be best for me to buy cables and solder them on myself, send them back go Grado, or to find someone who repairs headphones and send the cans to them?

Either way is fine, a DIYer will be more expensive IIRC unles you want to use Canare or any other cheap cable, but will offer a far better cable, why not going DIY, maybe a Sennheiser 650 cable will fit the bill nicely...just cut and paste...

Would you consider the HD 650 cable to be better than star quad?

I don't know what is inside the HD650 cable, but the Caanre is pretty good and transparent, i have a lot fo them working in my rig, evne an extension of 25' and it is very good...but the Grado standard cable is nothing spectacular neither...specially the ones used in the low models...
