Click the image to visit SongView.org

SongView was created to provide a means of compiling wave graphs of music for analysis by the hi-fi/audiophile community. The origin of the idea came from Esidarap and toastmaster on this thread.

Discover which albums are mixed the best, the worst, and everything in between. Which mixers are the best? Which artists care most about the SQ of their albums? Find out this and more.

Everyone come join the wiki and start editing/adding.

post ideas and questions here if you'd like

Not to take away from the great things toastmaster is doing by starting the site or anything, but the original wiki idea was mine.

Anyway, that's a really nice logo. I like the wave.

We need to agree on a format for posting these charts.

The original idea for a forum/webpage was mine and then you suggested a wiki. Let's work as a team.

lol, everyone who claims responsibility for the idea, please, post now.

Start editing you guys. Who is the admin? We need him to change the navigation so we can set up a system/format for posting a wave. We want to include as much information as possible. (Song title, artists, record label, format, mixer, recording engineer, as well as the actual graph.)

Then let's just credit the "Head-fi community" before we start disagreeing on something this silly.

So, what do you guys think about a format for posting the graphs? Any ideas?

I think we need to take this offline. I think we have a core team. Let's take it offline, so that we do not flood head-fi with these kinds of posts.

I'm admin right now. I'll see what I can do later tonight and in coming days about giving others admin rights and editing the structure.

Well technically i posted the first waveform and suggested a thread to post waveforms..

..as for the format i think it should be arranged alphabetically by artist , and that song name , and the sourceand date be listed too such as

Abba
Waterloo
From: greatest hits 2001 cd.

i have waveforms for a ton of mozart symphonies, and every progressive rock album you can think of. when i have some free time i can upload... this is a great idea

we would ask that all the stuff get put on the wiki, but we are currently discussing the structure, etc.

I want to help contribute too, I just signed up under the username Asr.

IMO waves should be stored in this hierarchy:

- Artist
-- CD
--- Track

UPC and record label should also be indexed though so people can search for those. I'm not sure what purpose indexing the recording engineer will serve.

There should also be standardization of which program to use for the displaying of the waveform. How about Audacity?
