Would E500 Benefit from an Amp?

I recently bought a Shure E500PTH and a Kenwood HD30GB9, and I've read on things about how good headphones need amps, but at volume level 9/30 on my dap, my new cans sound plenty loud. Would I really benefit from an amp? Btw I'm not using the PTH module, just running it through an extension.

Haven't listened to the E500 through the highly acclaimed HD30GB9's digital amp, but at least from an iPod line-out and Hornet M, there were certainly sonic improvements. The biggest difference was the improvement in bass extension.

I find the E500's directly out of the headphone jack of the ipod to be unlistenable. With the kenwood, I wouldn't get an amp if it actually sounds as good as people says it does.

By the way, the large point of getting an amp if to increase sound quality and not volume.

I listen to my E500s out of my nano unamped and I've very happy with results. Don't plan on adding an amp either.
