Still, pairing the K612 with a warmer source or amp is recommended. The treble is still very focused/present. That's a trait all open AKGs share smily_headphones1.gif

Thanks! I think I just needed one person to respond, tell me what I already knew from reading all the posts about them, and push me over the edge. Razordog "had" an open box, but never been used pair on Ebay for $158.50. It's now mine biggrin.gif

I am sure you'll like it. It's an amazing headphone for the price!

I hand washed them in a bowl of warm water with a bit of detergent, as suggested previously be someone here, then left them to air-dry. They don't appear to have lost shape or structure doing that, so you should be safe. I wouldn't want to machine wash or dry them for fear of shrinkage.

In AKG open headphones, I've only tried the Q701s. Overall, I really liked them. I did feel like the bass was not quite as well extended as I would like, but that's not a deal breaker. And the slightly smaller soundstage of the K612 is attractive to me. I did find the Q701 soundstage to be a little bigger than it needed to.

However, I have tinnitus, and the particular treble peak on the Q701s tended to irritate it. It seems like the K612 would be an improvement in that regard, more neutral in treble response compared to the overall frequency response?

Does that sound about right?

When the K612 has good synergy it's the most non-fatiguing headphone I have owned, it doesn't emphasis anything on my system giving it a very transparent and clear sound. Sibilance and grain can show up from time to time but it doesn't bothered me. I have the K712 which is like a warmer Q701 and I find it's sound more bothersome than the K612 at times, especially when my ears are being sensitive. To the K712s credit, the sound has gotten less fatiguing over time with more use. I hope you enjoy the K612.

Hi !

I already own a Fiio X3, did someone try it with K612 pro ?

I really want to buy this headphones for their outstanding price/performance ratio - about 130€ in Slovakia.

Do you think its a good idea ?

Is AMP in Fiio X3 enought powerful to drive them ?

I want to use them only at home :)

sorry, for not 100% english :)

Thank you. I know how to remove the ear pad, but not the foam itself. Is it meant to stay as one unit, including the screen and back plate?

The foam screen is glued on or what?

The screen is attached permanently to the pad. I wouldn't recommend soaking the pad completely. Just use a clean, wet towel to clean it, unless it's extremely dirty.

yes I wouldn't recommend washing it too.. if the issue is with the dust you can remove it by hand. the easier option I found was to get a softer cloth like pantyhoes. it really removes dust like magic.

I've had the old K601 for quite a long time. I replaced the pads with K702s but didn't like what they did to the treble, so I gave the old pads quite a hefty wash in warm soapy water.

I was really surprised at how well they turned out. Like new. Even seemed to reform and the shape became more regular, so they're quite tough actually.

Just got the k612s in the mail today. They sound really nice. I only have one problem really, they're killing my jaw with how hard the pads are. Will this get better over time?
