In your opinion, what are the best built IEM's in terms of construction and fit and finish? Fire away...

Vibes are up there. Metal earbuds that are still lightweight, and sound great to boot, anyone?

The E500 are beautiful bits of "gadget" and their fit 'n finish is top notch.

love my 4P's. Also the UE-10 pro's are quite nice.

B&O A8. Not an IEM, but such fabulous design and construction.

Of all the earbuds I've seen in person, I like the construction of the E500 the best. They look sturdy and are beautifully designed.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new and improved SE530 without the extension cable and the bulky PTH unit.

Shure E4
Shure E5
Shure E500

Shure makes good quality stuff

JVC marshmallows are pretty darn good quality, but these are more like canalphones.

My main issue with the E5 is comfort- I would say it loses a few points in that area.

No complaints with the E4, that is an awesome IEM.

But truth be told the E3 holds a special place in my heart, good sound and light weight make it an ideal IEM to get started on.

None.

To a certain extend, they're all far too close to distinguish in particular.

Pardon if I'm being ignorant but I recall posts detailing that the innards of many allegedly "high-end" and expensive universal IEMs being assembled in a slapdash and sloppy manner (sometimes even with unprofessional application of glue involved).

wouldn't "ten best" pretty much include about like 50% of the real IEMs on the market?

Threepointone, it is true :-) but out of those, which are made better then the other?

I don't have any experience with any other IEM but I would say my ER4P is pretty well built. Mabey not the best looking but it feals like one of the toughest plastic casing's I've ever felt.

I like the build of my Djays compact, sturdy and kind of pretty

Shure makes nice and durable stuff from experience (I have owned their entire line of products). With that said, their IEMs don't have the best fit and finish. There is usually some irregularities to the rubbers parts and some uneven paint/finish on case. The E500 is probably the best so far, but even it came a bit dusty and some very minor things. But really, unless you're as @n@l as me, I don't think you'll really notice or care.
