Since both my headphone rig and home theater setups are undergoing massive reconfigurations I'm considering downsizing my vinyl rig a bit. Truth be told vinyl will probably always play a small role in my listening so having something this nice just doesn't make sense. That and it pains me to fire up tubes for less than a couple hours at a time and lately I just don't have long stretches to do quality listening.
So here's the deal. I originally picked this unit up from another Head-Fier. The power supply had been damaged when he loaned it to a friend who hooked up the umbilical cord backwards
. This toasted a total of 4 components in the power supply which I've now repaired. I discussed this repair at length with both knowledgeable tube repair folks here at Head-Fi and also an authorized Consonance repair tech who in the end begrudgingly told me that I had, in fact, correctly addressed the damage.
Here are the specs of the unit:
Here are two pictures of the actual unit (click for even larger versions).

Please note that there are a few small spots on the front of the amp face plate and another at the top of the power supply. These are pretty minor and unobtrusive from a distance of more than a couple of feet but I believe in full disclosure so I wanted to be sure to point it out. Also, at least two of the fasteners do not hold particularly well in the chassis. This has zero effect on the operation of the unit but again, it seemed notable.
Included with the preamp and the tubes currently in the unit along w/ 2 Herbie's Dampers. The current tube complement is [2] Jan Phillips 12AX7's like these:
.
These tubes cost approximately $80 and have seen limited use. I also have the original owners manual.
How does it sound? To my ears and with my decidedly mid-fi table pretty darn good. I've read reviews of it online as well and most seem to be quite positive.
Now, onto brass tax. I've been unable to find another one of these for sale so getting any sort of feeling as to what is fair or reasonable doesn't seem possible. Authorized US Retailers are currently selling them for $969 with an unknown tube complement. So I guess at this point I'm open to offers but please bear in mind that shipping will not be cheap since the total weight is over 20lbs and I'm going to want to box this very securely. Also, I'm not looking for anything in trade. Please use PM to contact me with questions or offers and as always please feel free to check my feedback here if you have any questions regarding dealing with me. And don't be shy, you never know what I might consider reasonable, I guarantee it'll go for less than 50% of retail.
Thanks for looking,
Nate
