Confused newbie - power questions

I've done some searches here on head-fi and I now have more questions than answers.

1) Bare minimum, what sort of devices do I need in between the wall socket and my cdp, amp, etc? (Surge protection and ...)

2) Do I need a line conditioner, UPS, voltage stabilizer, ...? (Because I really don't want to mess up my stuff!)

Any help would be much appreciated!

p.s. ASR, sorry for stealing your avatar. I'm searching for one and I'm just using the Massive Attack one temporarily (since Mezzanine is my favorite album of all time!).

You should atleast be using a good surge suppressor. I use a Tripp-Lite model with 4 outlets, here's the same thing with 6- link
