Looking for decent, cheap (~$50) 2.0/1 PC speakers?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy some 2.0/1 (sub woofer optional, not a must) PC speakers, not sure what to go with. Looking for something decent for music (I always have my play lists going, love music) and movies, don't need to go that loud or too much bass but good range, something capable of producing good quality for price (~$50).

Browsed through NewEgg and saw these Logitech X-230 , best I could come up with so far, I much prefer the look of the Logitech Z-4i 40 however (color and design) but don't want to spend the extra $30 on cosmetic preference.

ASUS A78NX Deluxe nforce2 SoundStorm (onboard sound)

Could I do with something better? Opinions, advice welcome.
/Thanks!

At this price range.

These are the best you're going to find. This I swear!

They’re direct from china, so I doubt you'll find it in the good’ol fascist USA.

This reminded me....

I bought the Logitech X-230 speakers as a quick purchase to complete the computer I built for my parents. While they're probably worth the money, they aren't very good at all. They lack midrange clarity and high and low frequency extension which makes them one of the most "average" sounding speaker sets I've ever heard. The subwoofer is boomy and undefined even at its lowest level setting, but that's a common trait among most Logitech subwoofers.

In short, if you only have $50, buy them, but prepare to upgrade. That, or take Matt_Carter's suggestion... I've never heard those particular speakers, though.

Clicking that link I receive: "i3lueHorneT, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:" which would lead me to what, a for sale/trade forum?

What do you guys think of these Cyber Acoustics A-3640rb , wish the remote didn't light-up though, have enough on my desk that does that.
/Thanks for all the input.

If you don't mind buying used, I'll suggest any of Boston Acoustics' 2.1 systems, for example the Media Theater or Digital Media Theater. They sold for around $250 new when Gateway offered them as an option a few years ago. There are always a few models up for sale on eBay, and they usually sell for under $50.

I just bought a pair of Klipsch Promedia 2.0 pc speakers direct from Klipsch for $50.00 shipped. They sound pretty good when compared against most pc speakers I've heard. I also have a set of Logitech Z-680's which retailed for $400 and the Klipsch sound better.

Just a little more info after listening to these with some mp3 files the past week. If I had paid full retail of $100 I would have been very upset with my purchase. Seems that I have the bass turned almost all the way down when listening to them.
