How do you organize your cables, AC plugs and wall-warts?

I have more than a drawer full of cables, AC plugs and wall-warts. Seems like I have to look at four similar ones to figure out which one goes with a device. How do you guys label them so the labels stay intact and the cords stay organized?

I use a Brother label machine to produce an identifying label, which I fold around the wire onto itself at the A/C plug end of the wallwart. Problem is, I only started doing this a few months ago and still have a pile of unidentified wallwarts I need to sort through. White medical tape and a pen could accomplish the same thing if you don't have a label maker.

Are the Brother labels like sticky paper or plastic-y things?

Plastic. Once they are folded over and stuck to themselves, they're practically indestructible. The come in various widths and colours. I use black type on white and the smallest size (height) available. Approx. 1/4" high.

The label maker sounds like the perfect solution. I used to hear ads on the radio for it and think, who the heck would buy a label maker? LOL! Thanks.

Another big help to keep you cables organized is the zip-lock bag. I keep all my interconnects [and others] in zlb's when not in use. It saves a lot of hassle when trying to sort the out for use.

I keep all my related gizmos in zip-lock bags in the drawer. like IEM earphone pieces, headphone jacks, etc. in one big bag, all ipod and computer connectivity related stuff in another bag.

... and now i can label all those bags with my new ptouch machine!

i saw the "flexible" ptouch labels at the store -- for wrapping around cords and cables, are they really better for doing that than doing the same with the regular laminated ones?

What the heck? Why haven't I thought of this? My wife uses one at home to, uh, categorize her massive shoe collection. I kid you not. Time to put that machine to GOOD use!

A metal suitcase.
