The PK1s are very nice, but they do have rather big, round bass. I wonder if you might not prefer the Vsonics, which have much tighter bass, clear/extended highs, detailed but non-fatiguing. It's not going to blow away my ES2s, but it's very good for the price, and as I said it has pretty satisfying bass and a fairly "accurate" sound. If you want a warmer character, perhaps the PK1 is your cup of tea.

You won't really know until you hear them.

I want a portable that sounds as clsoe to k701's as possible. =T I planned on starting a new thread about that if I couldn't gather up enough information through research, but since you recommended a phone, I figure I'd ask here. A Friend of mine got the V-moda Vibes a few weeks back based off a recommendation from me from the reviews I've read and I'm going to give them a try this weekend, so we'll see how things go.

I have been listening to K701 and ES2 IEMs for a good long while. The ES2s are outstanding, though wallet-challenging at $650 + $ of custom ear molds.

Nonetheless, driven by a superior portable amp, such as M-Hornet, Portaphile PV2&2-LT1210-1500ufBlackGateNX Maxxed, Tomahawk... the ES2 is remarkably good. Westone's customer service is superb -- certainly equal to the friendly, courteous, considerate to a fault RSA customer relations (though no one can top Ray's incredibly open, outgoing, sincerely concerned persona).

BTW -- my favorite amps to date for the K701 are RKV-MkII+OPA627 mod w/Eddie Current EC/DC for impedance matching and subsequent more controlled, focused, beautifully imaged/open/nuanced/inner-detail-laden character -- and for portable, the M-Hornet (PV2^2Maxxed a tax too HF extended and midrange-cool for the 701s, though it does offer top level layered imaging and detail).

ES2's are out of my league, lol. I'm willing to pay up to the price bracket of e500's, but can't really get past $400. I'm clueless as to how IEM's sound as I've never heard one before.

Foam tips of VSONIC VS-R02

Romanee,

I have told the factory about the bass 2 month ago. Because of this, formal version VS-R02 have four different pairs of tips, include pretty foam tips.

I love my e2c's, they mate extremely well with my karma. They sound just like a good pair of cans, but there's something more there....depth. I hear stuff I don't really hear with cans.

Sorry for reporting in so late... crazy week.

Thanks Jahn for hosting the meet. It was lotsa fun. Jahn's STAX swept me once again... just something about them makes them sound so damn good.

sorry I dont really have impressions since I was working on Jahn's PC most of the meet heh

Sitting on my desk at work with the others I haven't sent out yet. I've been shipping too much gear to think about it. Probably next week.

I put $20 towards your ticket to San Jose. I can't help it if no one else jumped on the bandwagon.

Dont worry about it. I am going to the Aussieland next week so send it whenever you can...

Thanks a lot of the contribution. I'll see if anyone else will help out and then start working on my parents. I am pretty much flying somewhere every vacation this semester so i'll have to ask them VERY nicely

i have to say, even though i'm not a fan of IEMs, i tried these with those yellow foamies. these lil babies did bring the bass - pretty soon my phobia kicked in tho and i had to unplug!

glad you liked the STAX too, Slacker- i couldn't help it and i went and bought the DVD-A of "Love" because the redbook sounded so amazing with the lambdas that day. just finished ripping the redbook to my ipod, going on doggywalk now, when i get back, it's time for some Hi-Res Love!
