Marantz Reference CD Players...looking for recommendation

I currently own a Marantz CD-17 MKII Player, which I purchased several years ago. It's a wonderful player, with the additional benefit of being in black (which matches my components).

Looking for recommendations for a more advanced Marantz Reference Series CD Player to upgrade to. I know that Marantz came out with the CD-17 MKIII player, but I have not found the specifications to compare the differences between this unit and mine.

Should I upgrade to a better player, I prefer it to be in black.

It doesnt come in black....oh and it costs $7000.

I own a SA-17S1 (Multichannel SACD Player) since almost 2 years, and I'm very happy with it (it's a discontinued model). So happy that 2 weeks ago I ordered the player that picklgreen suggested in the post before. It's Marantz highest-end player currently available, it was just released and first tests in Japan and in the USA put it in the ultra top-end zone. Without a doubt, this is the best sounding (and more expensive) Marantz player available...

But sry...black version doesn't exist...only silver and gold versions. In Europe gold version only, but that suits me well.
Price here in Switzerland (online shop) is 7999.-Sfr. ...that's about 6475$

The Marantz SA8001 does come in black. Mine arrived about three weeks ago, and I could not be happier with it. They run $899 new and it handles SACDs exceptionally well and Red Book sounds good, too.

Mind you, the only other SACD player I've heard is the budget Sony SCD-CE595 (which isn't half bad), but the SA8001 is a huge improvement. Take a look and see if it meets your needs.

Just wondering, if your current Marantz is "wonderful", why do you want to upgrade. What do you hope to gain over your current one?

Marantz just released a new Reference player, the SA-7S1... it should sound pretty good:

I sold my Marantz SA-11S1 serveral months because the Zhaolu D-2.0 sounds a lot better, even paired with the transport of a cheapo DVD player. !! Get a Zhoalu or CityPulse first and then decide whether to keep which one.
