Tomahawk w/Blackberry Pearl?

I was planning on picking up a pair of the new Shure 530's and a Tomahawk amp. I would rather use a single device for phone/music but I realize a lot of the PDA's are not good music players in terms of SQ.

Can I hook the Tomahawk to a Pearl?

Is there any difference in SQ when using the same amp/headphone combo on different music players? Or since you are now using an amp does the music player not matter?

If the Pearl is not a viable option and the SQ will always be below that of a Ipod etc. What would you recommend as a music player? I have heard there are better alternatives then the Ipod lineup. Storage isn't a real concern, 4-8gbs should be plenty. I would much prefer the device to be smaller in size (Nano) but would make sacrifices for increased SQ.

Thanks.

As a side note, I am pretty set as far as the Tomahawk/E530 combo goes. I live in NYC and walk to work, etc so portability is key. Out of the stuff I have read on this site it seems the E500 (now 530) and UE 10's are the top of the line IEM. Amps have a less clear cut "winner" (as everyone has their own taste) but the reputation of Ray and the size/battery life of the Tomahawk seem to make it a good combo for me.

I have done a search on the Shure E530's and I can't find them anywhere. Are you sure (no pun intended) they are replacing the 500's?

I think the new 'E' series may be accompanying the current offerings, similar to how the 'G' series didn't replace the 'C' series

I think, and hope you all understand me

Thanks, I am pretty set on the Pearl. If that won't work as a music player I will just buy a seperate device.

Can anyone comment on the SQ of the pearl when hooked up to a decent pair of headphones? How does it stack up to an Ipod?

Thanks man. I tried a search (including Head-Fi and Google) but yield no results).

Thanks for the link. It seems like IEMs are expanding quicker than the $1 menu at hamburger joints.
