Weird static, what could it be from?

Hello, i'm running a pioneer 454 reciever, 5 insignias, and a dayton 12in sub. When playing music/games from my Ps2, there is a static whenever there is noise. Its not that noticable at low volumes but its fairly staticy at higher volumes. What could this be from? I first thought it might be the speakers becuause the center one made the most static, but then i figured it was becuase its making most of the sound?

I'll give it a shot
An audio signal can pick up static pretty much anywhere in the signal path. It could be that your PS2 itself is the source of the static (a noisy source), your interconnects could be intercepting emi/rfi and this could be causing the static, and/or your reciever could be generating the static in it's amplifier circuitry. All amplifiers generate noise, the question is how much noise (ie. if it will be audible or not).
How are you hooking up the PS2? If you hook up a CDP or DVDP do you get the same type of noise?

The Pioneer VSX-454 doesn't have digital inputs, so you must be using the analog outputs of the PS2. If that's the case, how are you using a center speaker? The receiver doesn't support Dolby Digital. Perhaps the Pro Logic setting you're using is causing some clipping when confronted with a hot signal from the PS2. Try running in regular Stereo.

Also, keep in mind that not all PS2 games were designed to be heard over high-end audio systems; some in-game music and effects will have low sound quality.

Just a guess, but you might be picking up internal noise from the PS2. It is a computer, after all, and they're notoriously noisy. I believe the PS2 has an internal fan, as well, which also kicks off RF.

There's not much you can do with the games. For music, I recommend using an external source. Even a cheap $50 CD player will do better.
