T-Amp works with batteries but not adapter

Like the title says - recevied a brand new T-Amp plus the 13.7V adapter from parts express that everybody recommends. I tried it with just batteries and it works fine. Take batteries out, plug in the adapter, and it just turns on, red light is on, but no sound.

Is my T-amp defective? Should I call up thinkgeek and have them send me another one?

Is the power supply working??? Is the polarity correct??? Wrong polarity will blow it...

Yeah the polarity is working and correct. I tried with a Radioshack 3-12V adapter and it works! I guess this being an ew batch they must have corrected for >12 AC adapters.

The adapter must be daamged then, also be aware that is has to be 12 volts DC not AC...maybe thye made a mistake and send you the wrong one....give them a call, honestly I ahve never had a problem with htem the customer service is top notch with them...

IIRC the adapter was the one Part Express provide as part of the package with the amp, while you purchased it from them....idially it was a superb PS, but every rule has an exception....maybe that one was damaged

I called PartsExpress, they were very helpful. Apparently, the newer T-amps seem to have trouble with the adapter they sell, something about Sonic Impact changing perhaps the DC socket or something. Should still work with old T-amps..
