Does anyone else here play EVE Online?

I'm still on the 14-day trial membership, but planning to keep on playing. What an amazing game, on so many levels...

I played it for a while. It has a great atmosphere and lots of potential fun but eventually I got bored, because everyone I know was just playing World of Warcraft. No friends to play with, no fun.

Ok, here's a call to arms for the Head-Fi community.

EVE Online is the absolute elite when talking about MMOGs (or MMORPGs) at this moment in time. It's the only persistent universe based on a single server and an unlimited potential for PvP interaction. It has been improved at an incredible rate for the past years, and the technological development and the player base growth are nothing short of amazing. The possibilities to develope a game character or to pursue corporational goals are absolutely unlimited.
It is a space game, a game where you pilot your starship against about 30.000 other pilots (players) at any given time.

This is the place to download the client and your 14 day free of charge trial:

Put your headphones into use for a cause that matters!
Thank you.

How many hours a week do you play? It seems like a huge time commitment.

This is the type of game that I've been waiting for since 1995. Now that it's here I'm kind of nervous to try it. It's been installed for several weeks. Do I dare start?

Ahem...
For the time part: You can't think in other mmo terms. Your skills train in real time. While you are at work, or asleep, you character is training a skill. Some take a few minutes. Some take a month. The only way you make ISK is through actually playing. As you get older, the ability to make money gets easier. When i made my first million isk, i thought i was rich. Making a million isk today takes like 1 minute.

You should start playing super, just make sure you finish the tutorial. It might take a while, but you'll learn a bit. You learn much more by actually messing around, but it's still important to finish the tutorial. Ive been playing for about a year, and I still learn things every so often.

I loved EVE, but my MacBook wasn't running it at it's full potential. I will probably start to play again once I get my MacBook Pro.
