Sound difference between ALO Cryo dock and ALO Vampire dock?

I am debating between the ALO Cryo and Vampire docks. I see that the Cryo uses 22ga wire and the Vampire uses 20ga. I wonder what the sound impact is here. I'm guessing the Cryo is still more durable for portable usage than the Vampire, right? Anyone moved from one to the other?

On a related note, I've heard a few comments that the Jumbo Cryo sounds better, but I've never really seen anyone describe the perceived difference in further detail.

Hey Morph,

I Vampire wired stuff is pretty new and I doubt that many if any folks have both to compare. To me the Cryo stuff is a tiny bit tighter than the Vamp stuff, and the Vampire wire is physically stiffer. However the Vampire wire sound is a very full, warm and robust with a fantastic range and crispness. I doubt that anyone would be disappointed with either.

I am sure folks will report out soon as the Vampire Docks have been going out the door.

Ken, would you mind posting a cryo wire right next to a vampire wire? I want to compare them aesthetically.

I will take some photos later tonight and post them, good idea.

By the way I am going to be sharing a table with TTVJ at the international meet in CA and am going to have everything for trial. I am also looking to get made a LOD "Taster Platter" or "Arc of LOD’s" (one of everything) that folks can rotate in a mailer. Problem is I have like 25 good ideas and 25 new cables but need a 48 hour day every day. Whhhaa and boo hoo, but I promise to get the "Arc or LOD’s" together soon. I want to have total transparency with what I make.

Thats a good idea. I had a similar one with IEMs that could get passed around. (would have make a cleaning/sanitation policy to go with it). I think this would be a much cheaper method of allowing others to try out portable equipment, rather than purchasing, selling, purchasing, trading, selling, etc.

I'm about to make a purchase Ken, but I'm waiting for my friend to get his Super.fi 5 in the mail. Then I'll decide if I like the Shure or Super.fi, if I like the Shures then I'll be ready to go, if not I'll have to worry about switching IEMs.

Thanks for the quick reply... payday is tomorrow, so I wanna be sure I pick the correct one when I order... Although I'm running a GoVibe V5 (and not a hornet\tomahawk yet.. due to the fact that I blew money on xmas gifts! Bah HUMBUG!) I wanna maximize the SQ while still being able to use the ALO for nicer gear in the very near future!!

hello all, this is my first post!!! Im kind of new to the headphone thing, its so addictive. I just got the ALO Vampire dock yesterday and so far it sounds great. I have a 30G ipod and headroom mico amp with the desktop module and Grado SR80s. It sure sounds alot better than running thru the headphone jack. I also have some senn. HD650s on the way to try out.

If I sampler package ends up being sent around please put me on the list. It would make picking which cable to get a lot easier.
