Disapointed with ER-4P

I just got my ER-4P today... They aren't terrible... but honestly they really don't seem to sound as amazing as I thought they would be. They don't sound that much different than my moded HJE-50s. Actually, I'd go as far as to say say they sound very similar, just colder.

Anyone want a like new par of ER-4Ps?

EDIT: And yes, I'm getting a very good seal, and they are inserted to the proper depth. Getting them out is actually alot harder than putting them in.

You sure you're not putting them in too deep? I remember when I had them and put them in too deep it sounded pretty bad. Pulled them out a bit and walla - great sound

Also could be your source

Did you try the foam tips? Try getting the P to S cable before giving up.

Maybe I am putting them in to deep. I'll try pulling them out abit.

Source is my Zune playing 192kbps WMA. Tried both with and without EQ.

I have tried the tri-flange and foam tips. I liked the foam tips for ease of removal, but the tri-flanges sounded a little better I think.

Listen to them for a week. Then switch over to the HJE50's, you might notice some differences.

I had the same initial underwhelm when first trying them from a (3G) iPod. It takes a while to figure out the right sounding fit in your ears, and to adjust to the sound.

All that being said, I now find them sterile and lifeless when compared to my e500s. I will give them another go-round when I get a portable amp.

Might notice some differences? Is it really that subtle of a difference between my 20.00 Panasonic's and the 160.00 Etymotics? [Or Perhaps I'm just tone deaf. haha.]

Maybe I just had too high of expectations, but I really thought this was going to make me sit back and say, how did I ever listen to music before getting these?

EDIT: I think the best solution for me is to get rid of these, and get some V-Moda Vibes. I tried... I guess thats the best I can do. Then again, if I'm happy with how my HJE-50s sound, maybe I should just stick with them for now.

Let us know your impressions if you do decide on trying the Vibes... I'm curious since I'm considering the Vibes fo rmy self.

I'll be sure to do that if I end up getting something else.

If you a full rich sound suggest UE's or shure E500's. I personally like the Ue super.fi 5 pros alot. I sold them to get UE-10's but they are great IEMS. I enjoyed the fit and finish of the E500's very much and except for rolled off highs the sound sig is very good as well

I'd like to get at least 145.00 for them. See the classifieds if you are interested.

I really think you haven't given them enough time for a thorough evaluation.
