Thanks for pointing out the lineage. I'll take it one step further:

Canman sold it to Mulveling who sold it to recstar24 (me) who sold it to rhythmdevils who sold it to photobob who sold it to cantsleep who sold it to toonie.

All I know is Stevieo sold them to me (his pair).... and that's it

Not as interesting as your stories but I don't think I'll ever part with these virtually perfect phones - you're all nuts to be playing hot potato with these

I'm fairly certain that I'll be holding on to these, sorry Voltron.

Although, upon further thought, I may have another pair that you may be interested in. They're on their way to Brooklyn right now and they may not have HP1000 drivers, but they do have quite the history and could make a great decorative piece

I am very interested to see what the people at Grado have to say tomorrow. Either way, if I find out the seller tried to pass on HPs with different drivers in them I wil definitely make sure that people are on notice of this.

For any one interested, I heard back from Grado today. After inspecting the HPs I sent them they informed me that they have RS-1 drivers and that one of the drivers is bad. Surprise, surprise.

Anyway, thanks again for all of the help and support. I'm just happy that I was able to get a pair from Cantsleep.

have you contacted the seller and asked for restitution yet? don't hesitate to contact both paypal as well as ebay with this guy's history and details of the current transaction. sorry to hear that this has not gone well but hopefully it resolves satisfactorily. he should not only refund your purchase price but refund any additional costs you've incurred! good luck and let us know how it works out.

oh MAN. not only are they not HP1000s, but one is bad? cmon, the seller should have at least said "uh, and one of the channels makes a squawking sound, buyer beware." if he pleads ignorance on the driver switch, at least you have him on the not-as-advertised "working" bit.

I actually asked the people at Grado to put their findings in writing so that I have it documented from the manufacturer in case he tries to deny anything. At this point I'm so angry about the situation and the fact that this guy has been trying to profit on these on several different occasions that in addition to getting my money back I am equally concerned with making sure others are aware of what a dirt bag he is.

To the best of my knowledge there are at least two other people he "sold" these to and I am the first to actually receive anything from him. And they aren't even as advertised.

Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out but I am absolutely not going to let it slide.

not a suprise but Sorry to hear that (Happy that you got some HPs that are in good shape though).

Make sure you give the GSs some time (and break them in), I have owned both for a long time now (RS-1 for years) and I really can't listen to the RS-1s anymore because the GSs do so much better....

I'm not saying the RS-1 may not win out as best for you, but just saying give it some time. For a long time I was convinced that the RS-1 might be better or on the same level, but either breakin or getting used to the sound turned that around.

I guess I will pass on the opportunity to pick up the mutant, non-functional, phony hybrid phones that dirt-bag sold you. Truly sorry to hear that the obvious conclusion did in fact follow based upon his past misdeeds. And of course I hope you get your money back and then some, and somehow make this known in such a way that this guy cannot simply sign up under yet another alias on FleaBay.

Good luck with that and enjoy the real HP-2s while hammering that jerk (but remember who called them if you decide for any reason to part with them ).
