Headphone construction

Hi everyone,

How can I find out the basics of constructing a headphone? I've done some searches on line, but to no avail. Any sites or books people can recommend?
Thanks!

Hi,

I'd like to second that.

Even though this question was asked 5 years ago, i still have a hard time finding info on this topic. I've built some speakers and some (simple) audio electronics myself and was overwhelmed by the ressources on those. Whats with the headphone topic that makes it so special? Finding drivers designed for headphones is close to impossible as it seems, and those that can be found seem to be commonly salvaged from broken original headphones. I've spent a few evenings looking for replacement cables (especially fabric cables and coiled cables) and dug up almost nothing.

So, what are you're experiences in the field? are there any written ressources on headphone construction that you know of, is there an online supplier of usable cables, drivers or even leather cushioning. I'd like to see a guide to reuse old leather gloves for making better cushions, i'd stay at home for a good read on how to build funky cans out of ikea wooden salad bowls, and would even write and photograph those, if only i knew how to do this things in a reasonable manner :-)

anyone else interested in all those things?
