All headphines are severely over-rated (excepth the Senn Orpheus) so don't worry.

Overrated depends on the price of the headphone, I find that for 170$ cad, my HD 558s are quite great. But I have not had the chance to try anything else of higher quality (except the HD 598 which I had 1 min with).

Folks are full of crap. The only "benefit" of being a Headphoneus Supremus is access to the Stargate. Which is alright, if that's your thing.

benefit? well the only actual benefit is from newbies really. they will tend to take your post as being more worthy than other people's..a lot more worthy. i used to be one of them :D i was all. HS? wow that person must know a lot more! >_<

 

 

and guys and gals. we all know that being a headphonues supremus grants you the ability to go to the coveted headphoneus supremus only meet that head fi hosts. duh

But that didn't happen...although tonight in a club, cued star wars music, and there was I pulling out my imaginary lightsaber having an awesome lightsaber fight with my friend.

I think at 3,000 posts and over, when you hover over the post count it should say this

that wouldn't necessarily work for me. total cost of audio gear? before audiophilia awarness and after? well then i guess it works.... but if you count just how much i spent on my stuff using MSRP prices?..compared to post count? nope. then it wouldn't

In the last 2 weeks in me being VERY active on these forums:

-$96 atrios MG7, when I had good earphones already

-$30 on 2x interconnects

-$26 on 2x MTPC pouches

-$65 on a ZO2 amp

-$180 on the E11 and A10 amp - although i intend in returning them

-$18 on 2x 8320's tongue.gif

 

=$400 in 2 weeks.

GULP :(

 

In 2 months:

-Bought the D2K's for $280

 

Total in around 2 months = $680

 

That's worryingly high.

Make that $500 due to my return....500 is still high!

Nop - have done it with several items though.

 

Amp3:

-Bought the se535's and before buying asked if i had the chance of returning -> that was returned (09/2011)

-Bought the MTPC's and found out they were fake -> they got returned (09/2011)

 

Amazon:

-Bought the IE8's and they had a broken seal initially - from amazonEU, and called sennheiser and the manager over there (who was very nice btw!) said it shouldn't be opened + at the time i was fearing they were fake (that was just me not liking the sound sig, and scratching my head over the over-priced sennheisers) -> they got returned (04/2010)

-Bought the CX500's and returned them as the denon c260's were better in almost every aspect (10/2011)

 

Ebay:

-Bought the FiiO E7, and it didn't drive anything better than the e5 - so returned that to a trusted seller (08/2010)

 

Apart from those 5 items, i don't think i've ever returned any other items.

And as you can see over a 2yr period....
