I haven't heard the vibes, but I have heard the other two and judging from my experience coupled with the reviews that I have read on the vibes, it seems like the JBL ($80) and the V-Moda ($100) are very close in sound quality having nice mids and highs along with a slight emphasis on bass. The CX-300's are a step below the other two in sound quality having a somewhat boxy sound and overpowering bass, the mids and highs are decent, but somewhat muddied by the bass. They are good for dance and hip hop music, and are on par with the V-Moda Bass Freqs, which I actually prefer over the CX-300. I am very happy with my JBL Reference 220's, unlike the lower end canalphones they have a nice smooth prominent midrange which I like, along with very nice treble detail. The bass is enhanced but not boomy or overpowering, so they can play many different types of music very well. They are also very comfortable, esp. w/ the cx-300 sleeves which are just slightly firmer than the JBL sleeves. I would love to get my hands on a pair of vibes so that I could do a A-B comparison.
