IMPORTANT NOTICE: Responding to PM e-mail notifications responds only to me.

Okay, folks, in the last major forum software update, one of the changes that occurred was that PM e-mail notifications now contain the text of the PM that you're being notified about. While (in my opinion) an awesome feature (because it lets me read my PM's easily via my phone, for example), it is causing some confusion, so I'm going to attempt to clear it up here.

Some of you apparently think, upon reading the text of these PM's in your e-mail, that the message was an e-mail message. Then, wishing to respond to that message, you hit "reply." The thing is is that my e-mail address is the reply-to address of system-generated e-mails like that. Long story short: Your intended recipient is not receiving your response--I am. So here's the dealio:

Please do not hit "reply" in response to your PM e-mail notifications. Read the e-mail's title to make sure it's not a PM notification before you decide to respond to it. If it is a PM notification, and you wish to respond to it, you either have to respond to the person via e-mail (by manually entering in that person's e-mail address, if you have it), or via PM in Head-Fi.

Again, if you simply hit "reply" to a PM e-mail notification, the only person receiving that response is me.

Thanks, everyone.

Best Regards,
Jude

No kidding. I get a rather large flow of Head-Fi-related messages/mail without you guys accidentally cutting me in on your deals and doings. I've tried to respond to as many as I can that arrive in my inbox this way, but I know for sure I've missed a bunch still. So, out there, there may be deals being missed, love not proclaimed (to the right person anyway), and insults improperly targeted. And though I dig you all, I'm quickly finding out that you're just not that interesting! I keed! I keed! (Sort of. )

Maybe changing the reply address to an automatic answering machine that send an automatic "Hey you @@**! that not an email please use PM" reply.

I'll have to go through the system options to see what flexibility it has for that specific e-mail message (PM notification).

Or, you guys can just read the subject line.

It's a very neat feature to be able to read the body of a PM in the email notification.

This thread should definitely be a sticky.

So... a new way to annoy Jude? I'm in!

(Just kidding man, please don't hurt me)

If most people are like me, they skip over all the sticky threads. Better just to keep bumping this in my opinion.

Biggie.

OMG Jude - That is like one of the funniest things I have ever read.

I'm glad to say I never did that, but I feel sorry for your inbox man.

Oh - I would strongly advise that you make this a sticky in all other categories too. I admit I only discovered the lounge a few weeks ago.

I know I have done this my accident many times.

Is there any way possible to have the reply actually go to the post itself. This would be very cool and effiecient. When I want to reply I have to log into the we via blackberry via the link and it takes 10 times longer then it does if we could just post a reply via the email system.

I am not complaining just suggesting if it is possible is there a down side?

I've been getting more of these messages from you guys lately, so I'm going to re-stick this one.
