philips 212 problem

hi i have noticed that my philips 212 seems to run overly fast even at the lowest setting on the adjustment knob. the belt does look loose and the tonearm isn't centered. but i would think a loose belt would make it run slow. any ideas todd or anybody else.

The Phillips 22GA212 has an electronic speed adjustment. There could be a problem with that.

first: Does it only 'seem' to run fast or did you check by hearing or stroboscoop test?

second: does the speed varies when adjusting the speed using the setting knob?
If yes you could assume that the electronics are working but there might be an offset.
