I dont understand your comment? The 5998 and 6080 are high output tubes. The only potentially higher output tube is the 6528. The 6528 is an ultra high output tube usually used for speaker amps. The 6528 works in my Supra because of the large surface area of the chassis, more robust power supply and fan cooling. The 6528 just draws to much current and produces to much heat in the little PPX3 chassis.

I am sorry I read this wrong? I thought I read 6SN7 for gain and 7N7 for the output stage again I am sorry Earl!

I think my new amp has the 6528 in it now at siglepower and Mikhail said the soundstage is Huge The bad news is he wants to let it burn in untill next Monday. Man thats along time.

So does anyone know what Black Gates are used for the decoupling cap on the amp?

Sorry Early for the loss, but you can always work out with one Extreme on each arm to get rid of the frustration.

I don't know because.

My amp is a Supra first and with a flip of a switch it becomes an extreme with a diffrent transformer and curcit to run the high output tubes.

You should have it set up with a remote so you wouldn't have to flip a switch. That way you could go back and forth really quick for an even more exciting musical experience. :^)

In my amp, to switch voltages you need to power down the amp. The wide differences in voltage will give some nasty and potentially damaging pops if you dont .... and this is going to or from 425 volts and 300 volts, respectively. The Extreme's output stage only runs at 150 volts so this issue will be even more pronounced. I know he could figure out a way to suppress the spikes, but along with a remote, I think this would add more complexity and cost than I would want .... just for the benefit of rapid switching. Of course, the remote would likely do volume or source switching too so maybe someone will try this someday. This is definitely an interesting suggestion, jamato8.

I definatly don't want to add to the expence I am in the big boy toys price range, with the source and new amp.

I have good headphones HD 650 soon to be ballanced and Headfiled K340s already Ballanced.

If I do anything else it will be an amp for headphones and speakers (Mikhail said is not far off). I would like a nice 2 chanel systen for my bed room when my wife is not home.)

Earl, I have one coming (placed my order about 3 weeks ago) and will report as soon as I get it. I don't have the date when he's going to send it as I haven't been bugging Mikhail. I figured he'll send it when it's ready. I just have to repeat: "I am calm, I am calm..." :-)
